September Favourites

October is now here!! I'm already excited for Halloween, oversized jumpers, hot chocolates with marshmallows and cream and fluffy socks! So as it’s a new month I thought I'd start a favourites series. So let me tell you what I have loved throughout September!

Beauty favourites

Every day without fail I have used Simple’s Kind to skin+ protecting moisture cream and all I can say is this is amazing. My skin has never felt better and I can’t thank it enough it’s so light it sinks in so quickly great when I'm in a rush and need to apply my skin care and make up pretty much all the same time (this happens most mornings).  With an spf of 30 I don’t need to worry about my fair skin turning to a tomato in the afternoon sun. It gives my face a boost of hydration and radiance and lasts for the majority of the day.

After I wash my hair I used to always use Avons argan oil through the mid to ends of my hair. When I ran out I kept forgetting to buy a new one and when I got round to doing it I no longer had an Avon representative. After a few weeks I started to notice that my hair was looking dull and dry so I went on a hunt for some more. Strolling round Sainsburys  I noticed this was on offer; I had never heard of the brand before “happy hair days” but I'm so thankful I found it. After washing my hair and towel drying it I pump some in my hands and run through my hair and leave it to dry naturally. Within a week my hair was back to its natural self, so soft and healthy.

Johnson's baby shampoo. Yes it sounds odd as I am 16 without a baby why do I need baby shampoo? I use it to deep clean my makeup brushes. I can’t even explain how soft it makes them. Because it’s meant for babies, there no harsh chemicals or perfumes that will ruin the brushes, or upset my skin. Not only that this stuff is never more than a pound (I only buy the little bottle)

Now for some makeup, I bought Rimmel London’s wonder’full mascara. It contains argan oil, yes I might have a small obsession, and so it makes your lashes healthy and adds length. I like the product because you can apply one coat for a “natural makeup no makeup” look, 2 coats for a “yes I have long eyelashes look at me flutter them” look and 3 coats for a “pow, big volume” look. No matter how many coats you put on the mascara feels weightless! No more rock solid lashes the flake off throughout the day, nope this stuff stays put.

Random favourites

My favourite book throughout September is Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I have read this book many a time but I love it, and starting college I do feel like a wallflower. I'm not going to say anything about the book because I will ruin it for everyone. It’s amazing if you haven’t already read it do it now you will not be disappointed.

My food favourite would be cashew nuts and almonds. I LOVE THEM! They are so tasty and they’re a better snack than chocolate. I take a little pot to college every day and a pot to work for my breaks they are a good source of protein, energy and all the fancy-dancy healthy stuff that I deffinetly follow and pay attention to… not.

So there you go my September favourites, hope this inspires you for some October buys or just interests you in general. I will try to do one every month, try being the keyword.

How I clean my makeup brushes

Washing makeup brushes is one of those chores that no one likes to do but has to be done. Not washing your makeup brushes leads you to breakout in spots now let me tell you why… when applying makeup with a brush you are picking up bacteria from your face (or neck or wherever you apply makeup) the bacteria is then left in the brush and it multiplies. When you go to use it again the same thing happens but because of the build-up of bacteria on the brush (try saying that ten times fast) it’s also on your skin. This circle keeps going and going and your skin will not thank you for it trust me.

1. Lay out all your dirty brushes ready to start cleaning.
2. Get two medium size bowls full of lukewarm water and dampen your brush in one of them.
3. Put a small amount of your cleaning product on your hand (I tend to use whatever shampoo I’m using and this one tends to leave my brushes very soft another one I like to use is Johnson’s baby shampoo but you could use just normal hand soap)
4.Using your hand to lather the shampoo make sure the whole brush is covered.
5. Squeeze out any excess product into the first bowl then rinse in the other
6. Repeat if necessary (stubborn dirt or a very dense brush)
7. Swirl your brush on a towel to get rid of excess water. And leave there to dry.
8.  Look at you clean brush in awe! (the best step)

(Remember to regularly change the water because washing your brushes in dirty water is never a good idea!) Sometimes I wash them in the sink with the tap which is more hygienic but tends to waste water. I like to use a pea size amount of conditioner on my blending and fluffy brushes because it makes them extra soft and keeps the brush at a good standard. Repeat steps to wash out the conditioner. Hope this post helps! i also need some idea for a good makeup brush solution to spot clean my brush please let me know any good ones you like!

Afternoon Tea

Today after work I went into Southsea for afternoon tea with my mum, brother and sister. This place was so cute and the food was amazing! We each got a huge cake stand full of scones with cream and jam, sandwiches and a selection of cakes, and a cup of crisps for sides! It was so nice there and the decor was so cute. You could even take your leftovers home. Going to have to go there more often!
